United Way of Lane County, OPB build better community

For more than 75 years, United Way of Lane County has been raising funds, mobilizing volunteers and building partnerships to create opportunities and improve life in our community.

“We couldn’t do what we do without the support of Oregon Pacific Bank,” says Noreen Dunnells, President and CEO of United Way of Lane County. “Oregon Pacific Bank is a community bank, investing in all parts of our community across the county. We are just thrilled to have that local connection.”

United Way of Lane County focuses on the health, education and financial stability of every person in the community, says Alma Fumiko Hesus, Director of Individual Giving. “We do that by focusing on our vision of ensuring children are successful in school and life.”

Alma says the volunteer efforts of our employees make a difference, from participating in service events, such as the Day of Caring, to serving on the nonprofit’s board. “Oregon Pacific Bank sees the impact of the work United Way does in our community, and they partner with us to help leverage and amplify that.”

OPB employees support United Way’s efforts because we care about our communities, says Troy Reichenberger, Senior Vice President and Commercial Team Leader at our Eugene Branch. “That’s a reflection of how much we donate and spend time and do sponsorships. It’s part of what we do, it’s part of the culture …”

The nonprofit’s work is evident in the lives of community members, says Kristin Short, Vice President and Relationship Banking Officer at our Eugene branch. “I really enjoy being able to see the measurable outcomes and the really high impact of what United Way is doing for our community,” she says.

United Way of Lane County Chief Financial Officer Cathi McNutt says she appreciates our bank’s quick service, personal attention and financial services. “When you’re in this kind of business, things a lot of times happen last minute, and you need help. It’s really great to be able to pick up the phone and get that kind of help.”

Together, United Way of Lane County and Oregon Pacific Bank get results because we share common goals.

“Oregon Pacific Bank is so valuable to our community because they are our neighbors, they’re our friends, they’re our colleagues,” Noreen says. “They are invested in the community personally, professionally and a supporter and champion of United Way’s work.”
