Umpqua Valley Tractor, OPB harvest a strong relationship

Umpqua Valley Tractor has been part of the Roseburg community for at least 50 years, selling farm equipment of all sizes for home gardeners to ranchers and farmers.

Guy Kennerly, owner of Umpqua Valley Tractor, says his business has grown a lot over the years. His long-time partnership with Oregon Pacific Bank has been a big part of the company’s growth. When his business was making the transition to becoming a Kubota dealership, for example, he turned to OPB for help with the monetary aspects.

“We had to have a bunch of financial information for Kubota and it was very detailed, and the bank stepped right up and took care of all that—and that was a big deal for us,” he says.

Guy says he likes knowing that if he has a financial concern or question, he can immediately reach someone he knows at OPB. “They’re just easy to deal with and that’s what I like about them the most,” he says.

Anita Cox, Branch Manager at OPB in Roseburg, says she’s enjoyed working with Guy over the years and seeing his business prosper. “Guy is the nicest person and the hardest working person you’ll ever know,” she says. “To see his energy and the excitement of what he does, I’m glad I’m part of that journey with him as he grows his business.”

Looking toward the future, Guy says, he’s glad to have Oregon Pacific Bank in his corner. “If you want a relationship with somebody, with a bank that’s going to stand by you for a long time, this is the bank you need to be with.”

“When a client comes in, they know they’ll be taken care of – there’s always someone to assist them right on the spot.”

Anita Cox loves her career in banking, yet she can still recall some of the difficulties she faced when she got her start more than 40 years ago.

“For me, when I first started going out to meet businesses, if you do not know people and they don’t know you, it can be hard,” she says.

As a Vice President and Branch Manager of Oregon Pacific Bank’s Roseburg branch, she wants to help others overcome some of those early obstacles. Back in 2007, she founded Ladies in Leadership (LIL), a group that meets once a month to help women forge bonds with others throughout the community.

Participants in LIL come from a variety of professions. They discuss business, health and various interests with the goal of helping participants feel welcome, no matter their background.

“It’s really interesting to hear everybody’s story,” Anita says.

At the bank, she strives to make customers feel welcome, as well. Her branch offers one-stop business banking solutions and is particularly beneficial for business clients who want to conduct all of their transactions with a single person.

“When a client comes in, they know they’ll be taken care of,” she says. “There’s always someone to assist them right on the spot.”
