Mimi Teachout | AVP, Senior Residential Loan Officer

Mimi Teachout says the best part of her job is being there when new homeowners sign the paperwork to start the next chapter in their lives. As a Senior Residential Loan Officer, she helps them reach that milestone. Whether people are buying homes for the first time or the last time, it’s always an exciting occasion.

“That connection you have when they go ‘This is happening, this is bettering my life,’” she says.

“It’s great to be there at that moment.”

Mimi joined Oregon Pacific Bank in 2012. She’s had a long career in real estate, spending 20 years as a licensed broker in California. She and her husband moved to the Oregon Coast in 2009, living in Reedsport awhile before they bought a home in Florence. She’s found the place she feels she belongs, calling it the perfect place to live. She lived in Italy for two years as a child so even the name Florence appeals to her.

“We absolutely love it,” she says. “We have rivers, we have lakes, we have the ocean. In Old Town, I know pretty much everybody by name. We love to go crabbing and agate-hunting.”

In addition to spending time on the beach, Mimi also enjoys baking, cooking and reading anything about nutrition.

Mimi is also a former high school teacher who likes to teach others. She has been involved in outreach programs to provide instruction on financial basics for high school students and other community members. She’s the director of the Central Oregon Coast Board of Realtors, where she’s the education and scholarship chair. She was also the scholarship chair for the local chapter of Soroptimist International.

Mimi can’t help but offer financial advice to co-workers around the office, always urging them to have a plan and save for the future. It’s one example of how her concern for their welfare has earned her a nickname: “They call me ‘Mama Mimi,’” she says with a laugh.

She’s been involved with Habitat for Humanity, Florence Food Share and the Helping Hands Coalition, as well.

Mimi says she likes to make a difference in her community and enjoys working for a company that supports her efforts. “I’m proud to be an Oregon Pacific Bank employee and grateful to represent Florence.”
