It’s easy for Merrill Taggart to describe what he enjoys most about working at Oregon Pacific Bank.
“What I like most about my job is working with and getting to know the businesses and the business owners,” he says.
As an Assistant Vice President and Commercial Loan Portfolio Manager, Merrill builds relationships with clients to help them get their businesses started or to keep them running smoothly.
“I work with business customers to fund many different types of loans, including construction loans, term loans, lines of credit and basically just help them further their business opportunities,” he says.
One of the key benefits clients can expect at Oregon Pacific Bank is quicker decisions than they’re likely to get at larger institutions. That’s because local bankers have the authority to make local decisions. That means clients can schedule projects or order new equipment and have it in production sooner.
“It’s really important for Oregon Pacific Bank and bankers like myself to make decisions on the local level,” he says. “I feel like we’re able to be a little bit more nimble than a larger bank, because we have the power to make those decisions.”
Merrill’s glad to be working at OPB and has lived in Roseburg for more than 20 years. He thinks it is an ideal community. “I love the fact that it’s a smaller community, we’re close to larger communities, but we seem to have everything we need right here.”
When he’s not at the office, Merrill enjoys spending time with family and getting out on the golf course, sometimes at the same time. “My wife recently took it up, and so we’ll play some golf together or invite family over for barbecues or do some yardwork or gardening,” he says. “It’s all great fun.”
Merrill says he has a message for potential clients who may be considering Oregon Pacific Bank.
“I would like people to know that I’m very friendly, very open and any way that we can help them, we’re open to listening,” he says. “If we can help, we would love to.”
